Othaya Farmers Co-operative Society has its own dry mill in Gatuyaini: this is where all the coffee processed in the various wet mills is taken for further processing. Rukira wet mill was built in 1979 and is situated in Mumwe, a village located between River Mumwe and River Thuti.
Most of the coffees from Nyeri develop and mature slowly, producing extraordinary distinct cup profiles. The soil in this region is high in phosphorus, helping to encourage sparkling and juicy acidity in coffees grown there.
